About Dan von der Embse

My life takes me on the road frequently, for business and pleasure, spending a good deal of time on airplanes. Most every poem I write starts out in flight. Some of them land safely. Some of them crash.

I have a career as an award winning writer for advertising agencies in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco, and Salt Lake City. My poems have appeared in numerous literary journals including The Missing Slate, Poetry Pacific, and Poetry Quarterly.  See a list of published poems here.

I was born and raised in Mansfield, Ohio, educated in Catholic schools, and graduated from Ashland University with a BA in Theatre.

Most of the posts here are my poems and posts of other bloggers of interest, but I also post regularly about music, advertising, aging, and other topics that interest me.

  1. Hi Dan, thanks for stopping by! you have a lovely corner here, glad I found it!
As an art student, may I ask for some tips for getting recognition as an artist in this big, commercial world?
    Best wishes,
    Ayeh.

  2. I envy your life on airplanes, I do not like to travel but I love airports and airplanes. Though, I’d prefer if I did not crash.
